Recent Developments at INFORMATION FOR NONPROFITS Sponsorship RenewedWe are pleased that the Chevron Corporation will support this online project of The Evergreen State Society (http://www.tess.org/) for another year. Having this backing makes it possible for us to plan and implement improvements in the content and functioning of the site.
Education Progams for the Nonprofit FieldWe have posted a new list of graduate programs at U.S. universities that concentrate on nonprofits ñ especially on preparation for management of nonprofit organizations. Each program is identified by sponsoring institution, the degree offered (MBA, MPA etc.) and a URL for further information. If you are looking for a graduate program to widen your perspectives, check out the Education and Training section of "The Nonprofit Files" and especially this new list (through http://www.nonprofit-info.org/npofaq/13/02.html). There is also a link to limited information about relevant undergraduate courses included there. And, of course, we are always looking for information to update and improve information of this sort. If you know of a program that isn't listed, or a correction that should me made in the entry for one that is, please write editor@nonprofit-info.org with the details. It would be good, too, if we had a similar list of educational opportunities in other countries as well. Even a starting point would be welcome. Again, please send suggestions to the editor.
Front Steps onlineThe latest issue of The Evergreen State Society's print newsletter Front Steps is now also available online at http://www.nonprofit-info.org/misc/frontsteps/v1n3.html . It features a useful summary of disaster-preparation steps neighbors can take to improve their chances of making it through an earthquake or other disruptive event. This newsletter is available in the necessary quantities without charge to community-based organizations who can distribute it to low- and moderate-income urban households. We are taking requests now for the Spring 1998 issue. Please email frontsteps@tess.org if you would like to know more about this opportunity. (There is a limited number of the Winter 1997 issue still available in printed form also; copies can be provided as long as supplies last.)
OpinionsTwo recently published items by Putnam Barber, President of The Evergreen State Society, are also now available online.
Email Version of this Bulletin?Several people have written to ask that we provide the information and announcements in these Bulletins through an email distribution list as well as by making the changes on our website. We plan to do this sometime during 1998. If you would like to have your email address included from the start, please write email@nonprofit-info.org. The first step will probably be the we'll email you a notice that the "Bulletin" has been changed; later we will send the text of the new "Bulletin" directly to you. Thank you for your interest.
