Mentoring Development Officers in Cyber-Space

Here is another creative use of the Internet to strengthen nonprofit organizations. This time it is a website , rather than a dedicated mailing list such as FundClass (discussed in the previous "Bulletin"). The introductory information about the "Mentors" service is quoted below with the permission of Stephen C. Nill, the organizer.

Mentors in American Philanthropy

The On-Line Mentoring Forum

Tip: Remember to add http://philanthropy-review.com/mentors/ to your bookmarks in your web browser. You'll want to return to the forum often!

Launched in October, 1997, Mentors in American Philanthropy is a new web-based forum which brings together some of America's most experienced fund development professionals and invite them to mentor their newer colleagues. Unlike most discussion groups, however, this one is not an email discussion list, but rather a fully-threaded web-based forum. This is a new mentoring forum that grew out of a discussion on our flagship Internet email discussion list, Talk-AmPhilRev.

We hope you will enjoy your visits to our forum. Be sure to set a bookmark and return daily! Be sure to let us know what you think. Just drop us a note at List-Editors@Philanthropy-Review.com.

Oh, rules. In time, we'll develop a set of brief rules for this new forum. They'll be based on our experience with administering our various Internet discussion lists, which presently have more than 2,500 subscribers. For now, just wade in! Just remember to include your name, organization, and email address on your postings.

Very truly yours, The Editors
