2. It seems resourceful for (real) job hunting and community services. I hope I can connect with locals making a positive effort to revitalize NOLA and I need a job. Bad!

3. Idealist is a great initiative in order to bring together people with the same interests. Making this world a better place for everyone and each of us is my goal, what's yours?

4. This new initiative is exactly what we need, now that we are entering an entirely new era in race relations and awareness, and especially our need to overcome the "fear of one another" -of our own group's judgments when we make the effort to evolve. In all the areas where this initiative applies, it can only be a good, and wonderful thing, in which all of us should be involved..

6. I possess a strong passion for helping others, specifically in the area of fighting cancer. On September 11, 2001, my mother underwent her first open-heart surgery to remove a cancerous tumor from her left atrium. Since then, she has undergone two more open-heart surgeries and countless other procedures to fight the rare form of cancer that attacks her body: sarcoma. Her struggle to fight for life has turned into an inspiring vision of how one can positively affect the lives of others in the direst of circumstances. In no way can I completely comprehend her struggle, but I can admire at her willingness to continue to serve others. I want to pay homage to my mother’s attitude by working towards helping others in some way, and I feel like this initiative fits that same type of purpose.

15. i.) I think the initiative is an interesting one. I like the URL idealist dot org. ii.) From my corner of the world, the initiative could use a little bit more visibility. I heard about the site through a friend who works in DC, but I'm not sure that I'd have "stumbled" upon it otherwise. iii.) I want to get involved because I believe that humanity is at points of contingency on so many critical fronts. That said, I don't know what future generations will say if I don't lend a hand to make their world a good one.

17. Great idea! I am often one of those persons looking out the window, thinking I am alone. I believe that in helping others, we receive much more than we give.

19. I come from a community of liberal yet socio-economically privileged individuals who for the most part are admirably involved to some extent in service-based initiatives. Nevertheless, there are never enough opportunities for people to get involved. Idealist.org's commitment to service at a variety of levels provides another fantastic opportunity for global involvement.
