Description: SEIU United Healthcare Workers - West, a progressive and growing union (formerly SEIU 399 and SEIU 250), has 150,000 members in California. We are caregivers from every sector of the industry, united to win better care for our patients and better lives for our families and ourselves.

We are seeking Regional Political Organizers to represent and organize health care employees in all sectors of the California health care industry including: hospitals, nursing homes, home health, clinics, and emergency medical services (EMS).

Responsibilities: Lead, motivate and mobilize workers through contract negotiation processes, contract enforcement and political activities
Ability to build and maintain a steward system including training and guidance support
Develop membership through campaigns, meetings, and general field service
Administer collective bargaining agreements
Articulate the Union's message to employees
Establish working relationships within the widely, diverse community interested in health care issues
Compensation: We offer a competitive salary commensurate with experience and an excellent benefits package including health, dental and vision insurance, SEIU pension and auto allowance.

Qualifications:
Experience as a Field Representative or Organizer or proven ability to carry on the responsibilities of the job
Effective written and verbal communication skills
Ability to listen actively and frame issues
Ability to assess information and evidence and deal with conflicting/changing priorities
Ability to think strategically and exercise a high level of judgment
Ability to work with a wide variety of multicultural and political groups
Willingness to work long and irregular hours and participate in all division and union wide activities
Willingness to travel and work in different locations for determined periods of time
Current valid driver's license, working automobile required and valid auto insurance
